Quoits
Quoits is similar to what we know as horseshoes and later became the game of horsehoes. Rings that were made from metal, rubber, or rope would be thrown over a set distance and land over or near a spike in the ground. The spike was sometimes called a hob, mott, or pin.
There would be two pins and four rings and it was played with either two people or teams of two people. If you managed to get your ring over the hob it was called a ringer and it was worth two points. You would also get one point if your ring was the closest one two the hob. The game was played until someone reached 21 points.
